Girls Try Hockey Event – November 2014

About Me

Liz Smith

Gymnast & Hockey Forward

I’m Lizabeth “Liz” Smith, but my friends just call me Liz. My journey began in Chicago, where I was born, but the vibrant lights of Las Vegas became my home when I was ten.

From the age of three, gymnastics captured my heart, teaching me the values of discipline and dedication early on.

Though I started figure skating at five, hoping to complement my gymnastics training, it was a “Girls Try Hockey” event that truly expanded my athletic horizons. The moment I hit the ice with that hockey stick, I knew I had found my calling—it was more thrilling and gave me a sense of freedom I hadn’t experienced before.

Gymnastics Achievements:

  • 2021: Ranked 5th overall in Region One with an All Around score of 37.425 at age 12.
  • 2022: Placed 3rd at the Nevada State Championships.
  • 2024: Ranked 9th overall in Region One with a score of 36.90.

Hockey Triumphs:

  • 2024: Won the Pacific Girls Hockey League Championships with my team.
  • 2024: Scored the game-winning goal in overtime at the National Championships for Tier II Girls 1A Hockey.

Each glide on the ice and each flip on the beam tells a story of perseverance, of falling down and getting up stronger. My journey is not just about the medals or the trophies, but about pushing my limits and setting new ones. As I continue to balance gymnastics and hockey, I am constantly learning about resilience, teamwork, and the sheer joy of pursuing what you love.
